John Matthews Architects has completed a wide variety of commercial and institutional projects. These include: a new Adult School of Education in San Mateo, remodeling of the San Mateo County Health Services Clinic in South San Francisco, several restaurants, and consulting to the City of South San Francisco on the new BART Station design. Adaptive reuse of old structures constitutes a significant portion of our work. Projects of this type include: a medical office became de Colores art school for children, an adhesive manufacturing plant became the main offices for Lans Corporation and their retail store San Carlos Paints, a supermarket became Bay Brokerage Company headquarters offices. Current major projects include a feasibility study for a community arts center, remodelings of three fire stations, a diner, a new church building, and a car rental agency.
